Tips for Choosing the Most Suitable Toys for Children

A 'birthday', a Communion, a special achievement, the Three Kings ... These are occasions when children become protagonists, often accompanied by gifts. Although they are not the only ones: apart from special occasions, toys, like baby education card, form a fundamental part of childhood, oriented to inspire their creative universe, expand their imagination and enhance one of the great advantages of being a child against adulthood.

Play activities often evolve to 'burn' stages, and although the human mind is programmed to experiment with different forms of play throughout life, in none such as childhood does this type of activity form an integral part of the process of personal growth. That is why choosing the child's toys, whether it be a gift for our children, nephews or godchildren, or as a further addition to their small world, is a task that must be carefully considered, and in which various factors come into play.

Early childhood, up to age three, is one of these creative stages where play is as fundamental, like magnetic building blocks, to the child as his or her other daily habits, including meals and sleep cycles. Cognition, motor skills, language, creativity and social-emotional intelligence become part of your life through play and toys. Do you know how to choose the most suitable?

1. Educational toys are a great source of information for children, although if they do not want or are not interested in the game, it is difficult for them to embark on an adventure with him. The toy should be desired by the child, even from an early age.

2. Toys must be safe and always be approved. Make sure they are made from materials that are not sharp if broken, with solid, non-toxic colors. The smaller the child, the larger the toys and their parts.

3. Each toy is associated with an age range, designed to fit the abilities and interests of the children. Check that the product is adjusted to the age and personality of the child, thinking about the purpose and attitudes he develops in his daily life, respecting his learning pace, and ensuring that he enjoys the new acquisition.

4. The personality of the child is fundamental: a withdrawn child, for example, will need socializing games, with several players.

5. As in everything (or almost everything), less is more. The simple toys will increase the uses that can be made with it, developing the fantasy of the child as well as his symbolic capacity.
